This new spatial arrangement creates a sense of generosity and conviviality, and allows the sea view to become a persistent presence throughout the apartment, the horizon an integral part of the interior, a daily constant for those who inhabit the space.

As carpintarias existentes e o layout original da instalação sanitária foram mantidos, decisões deliberadas que simplificaram a obra e preservaram um toque do carácter original do espaço. A intervenção central foi a reconfiguração da cozinha em plano aberto que se prolonga até à sala de estar, dissolvendo o limite entre as duas áreas. A complete renovation of a 130 m² apartment, completed in three months, a project defined by precision and rigorous cost management. The stone flooring in the social areas was preserved, together with the original timber doors and built-in cabinets, which ground the intervention in the existing identity of the space. The central move was the creation of an opening between the kitchen and the living room: a small but decisive gesture that brings the bay into the interior, making the horizon, sky and sea in constant movement, a permanent and integral part of the apartment. Bathrooms finished in neutral tones with easy-care materials, consistent with the restrained character of the project.

O pavimento em pedra das áreas sociais foi preservado, juntamente com as portas em madeira e armários embutidos originais, que ancoram a intervenção na identidade existente do espaço. O gesto central foi a criação de uma abertura entre a cozinha e a sala de estar: um movimento pequeno mas decisivo que traz a baía para o interior, tornando o horizonte, céu e mar em movimento constante, uma parte permanente e integral do apartamento. In the kitchen, neutral tones with natural stone accents; in the bathroom, easy-care materials paired with considered lighting, spaces of elegant simplicity and efficient functionality.

The brief called for precise, surgical interventions, improving comfort and functionality while preserving original elements to maintain the authenticity of the space and optimise cost and timescale. The kitchen was reorganised and integrated into the living room, creating an open environment that strengthens the relationship between the social areas and allows the bay to become a constant presence in the interior. The apartment's finishes were fully updated with neutral tones and low-maintenance materials, creating spaces that are simple, light-filled and functionally efficient.

O programa exigiu intervenções cirúrgicas e precisas, melhorando o conforto e a funcionalidade, preservando os elementos originais para manter a autenticidade do espaço e optimizar custos e prazos. A cozinha foi reorganizada e integrada na sala de estar, criando um ambiente aberto que fortalece a relação entre as áreas sociais e permite que a baía se torne uma presença constante no interior. Os revestimentos do apartamento foram totalmente actualizados com tons neutros e materiais de fácil manutenção, criando espaços simples, luminosos e funcionalmente eficientes.

A complete renovation of an apartment that had remained unchanged for more than seven decades. The premise was one of continuity: the existing compartmentalisation was preserved, and the intervention focused on updating finishes and fittings rather than altering the fundamental organisation of the space. The kitchen was fully restructured; a small dining area and a guest WC were introduced to respond to the needs of the new occupants. Original finishes, timber floors, mouldings, doors, were retained and carefully recovered wherever possible, maintaining the memory and character of the apartment. In the bathrooms and kitchen, new materials and fittings were introduced with restraint, seeking a lighter and more contemporary reading without displacing the essence of what was already there.

Renovação completa de um apartamento que se mantinha inalterado durante mais de sete décadas. A premissa foi de continuidade: a compartimentação existente foi preservada, e a intervenção centrou-se na revisão de revestimentos e equipamentos em vez de alterar a organização fundamental do espaço. A cozinha foi totalmente reestruturada; foi introduzida uma pequena zona de refeições e um lavabo social para responder às necessidades dos novos ocupantes. Os revestimentos originais, pavimentos em madeira, molduras, portas, foram preservados e cuidadosamente recuperados sempre que possível, mantendo a memória e o carácter do apartamento.
